Coffee Talk 1.15.10

Good Morning, ladies! Come on in and grab a cup of ...hot chocolate? Or maybe some nice cool water! That is my drink of choice. For several years I have made myself drink my eight glasses of water before I drink anything else, but lately I have "fallen off the wagon". This week, I have been trying to get back into the habit. I have had some great days and some Diet Coke at 10:00 a.m. days....but I am getting there!

Would you like a Krispy Kreme donut? Tigerfan has been out of town and brought them home as a treat. So far, I have been good and haven't consumed a single one...but I need them out of this house!

I look forward to, hopefully, getting around to everyone and visiting this week. I have hardly even stepped foot into blogland this week. I am BOGGED down with Science Fair, getting Science Fair judges, beginning our new Bible Study, and teaching both my children and my tutorial class. To top it off, Tigerfan has been out of town so I have been a single mother and I have been swamped. Hopefully, this weekend will provide a bit of a rest and some time for a little visitin' although, to be perfectly honest I didn't make it through last week...there were like 66 of us!!!! Which is totally great but I got through about half and then just plumb ran out of time. Hopefully I can make it around this week!

I guess I already told you a bit about the week. But the high/lowlights would be:
  • My new Bible Study. I am going out on a limb and have agreed to facilitate it which, frankly, scares me to death. But I am really excited. At first we were planning to do "One in a Million" by Priscilla Shirer but due to some issues we ended up choosing one our church already had so we are doing "My Life as a Beautiful Offering" by Angela Thomas. I LOVE Angela Thomas. So, I am looking forward to this study. We met Wed. and I did my testimony, but now must wait two weeks to actually start because of some special programming at church next week.
  • Science Fair. Hmmm, where to begin. I am the greatest advocate of the Science Fair. Until this time of year when projects are about to be due. Then, I HATE SCIENCE FAIR! I do this every year. I get so wrapped up in helping my class, that I put off helping my own child. So, here we are, two weeks away and we haven't even begun. Not to mention the fact that he chose a project that involves piezo? buzzers, soldering irons and audio cables. I can't even read the directions without going HUH?! We have already destroyed one part and must go replace it as well as, apparently purchase a soldering iron because...well, it is a long story! Thankfully, Tigerfan is home...he is doing some science this weekend!
  • Science Fair judges. Okay, I totally deserve this one because way back in the beginning, the Science Fair was my idea. But then it grew and evolved and the high school science teacher, who is organized and "with it" took over. And I let her. Because I am not. She always does all the behind the scenes stuff. Like get judges. Which is really wrong, I should be helping, but she is so GOOD at it. Until this year. She is swamped. She can't do it. So I am. It is KILLING me, people. I have typed emails till my eyes are blurred. I have made phone calls, the office has made phone calls for me. I live, eat and breathe judges. I need about 20. I have 11. Science Fair is two weeks away. Would any of you dear ladies like to travel to TN and judge a science fair? We have a lovely hospitality room, well corner!
  • I have a two year old. I know, most of you already know that. But he is my high AND low light. He is so dadgum cute I can hardly stand it. And he is so naughty that I want to string him up by his toenails. He doesn't like to play with toys, he likes to throw them. His newest favorite playground is our bathtub. He likes to hang upside down over the edge, walk along the side and attempt to jump off, using the faucet as a launch pad. He likes to dump out every bin, puzzle and bookshelf in the house and then throw himself on the floor in a screaming fit when I make him pick them up. He likes the kids to turn movies on for him, but doesn't actually want to watch them...but do not DARE turn it off! He likes to empty the pantry, unroll the toilet paper and draw on school papers. I am too old for a two year old...someone help me!

Well, speaking of that two year old, he is screaming for me to come get him out of bed. Can't wait to visit with ya'll this weekend! Hope you have a blessed one and don't forget to go to Home Sanctuary to check out more Coffee Talk!

Your post made me feel the pace of this season of your life.... i have facilitated Bible Studies before...and was always nervous--but had to leave the weekly discussions in God's hands...praying that what He wants to accomplish would be--through meor in spite of me! :0)

Good luck with the Science Fair--sounds like tons of work!

And a two year old...blessings in this challenging season...

haha, I am not a mom but I can definitely commiserate with the two-year-old-blues. I take care of a 2 year old and she can be a handful. Today's obsession: untying my shoes.

What a week! I hope you are able to find judges for the science fair. I'm glad your husband will be home to help this weekend.

I hope you can find time to lock yourself away in the bathroom and soak in a warm bubblebath. Even if it will have to be sometime in the middle of the night! You definitely need some down time :)

It's great you're facilitating that Bible study. That's one thing that I miss doing... I'm always so challenged and blessed by it.

And science fair... it will be worth it in the end. That was the highlight of my freshman year in highschool (I won $100 for my project!)

Hang in there, His help is on the way!

You sound as busy as me!!!

I'm working on a Bible study of a personal nature...I'm going through the Book of Romans using a commentary. I haven't read as much as I'd like, but I did get to read a little last night.
Have a great weekend!

Thanks for stopping by....I was really thankful when I read that you'd been praying for me this week....my heart so appreciates it...it's been a really hard week...but our Lord can move mountains can't He?....all the best with the science stuff...'fraid I wasn't very good at science and always hated when my kids brought the projects home to work on. I was quite useless!

Enjoy that little guy you know he'll be grown before too long. I keep my 2 year old grandson and I am with you they keep you busy and worn out.
I hope your weekend is Blessed,

Ooooh I would love a krispy Kreme. Not available many places over here. Our nearest is probably an hours drive away. Further for most people.
But I am coming to America soon and will have to be good and not eat them till they come out of my ears!

Hot chocolate! Thanks! =) I do love my 8 glasses of water too. It does make me feel better throughout the day. Most people I know don't like to drink the 8 glasses because they have to go to the bathroom so often, but I've got a big bladder. TMI! =p It was confirmed when I got my ultrasound with Emily. And I haven't had a Krisoy Kreme donut in so long.

I don't want to think about all the projects the kids have to do when they start school. Like we don't already have enough paperwork and such already. Good luck with the fair. I have no idea what you're talking about - piezo, buzzers, etc....

Sounds like that 2yo keeps you busy all by himself. What a talent these kids have. =p

Have a wonderful weekend, and thanks for the visit.

Oh, I so wish I could be a judge for you! How well I remember Science and Social Studies Fairs. Ugh! not pleasant memories, but I did survive them. :o) I think you deserve a donut and Diet Coke and just about anything else you want, you have earned them! Happy week-end!

Your two year old sounds something like my four year old-- Cute and Mischievous. I think maybe you need a diet coke and a doughnut.

It is good to hear someone has control over the diet & dounuts. I on the other hand don't. I have already had diet pepsi 2 times today & I had Krispy Kreme dounuts yesterday. I also had some other kind of dounuts this morning. I am so mad at myself now. I will be so glad when I can actually start my exercising Mon. I was told by my doc to wait until Sun or Mon before starting any activity. Ughhh!!
Well, I hope you have a wonderful week & get some time to read some blogs.

Maybe our 2 year olds were separated at birth. My Georgie is a little monkey and LOVES to throw her toys. Or anything else she gets her hands on. sigh.
Oh - I'm so NOT jealous of your science fair situation. Sorry to hear it's so tough and praying it comes together for you.
Awesome about your Bible study. loving that... Hope to hear more about it. =)

Oh man - the water thing - I need to do this so badly - why is it so hard to do the 8 glasses before anything else!?
Leading a Bible Study will be awesome! You will be great at it! God equips us for what we feel called up to do! You will be a blessing to many!

You sweet thing! I can't believe you made it through ALL those coffee posts! I worked backwards this week so if it weren't for your comment, I probably never would have made it to ya! :)

I love your high/lowlights! I have a three year old boy and he is a kick in the pants! When he was two, my favorite sweatshirt on him was one that says "Caution:Two Year Old."

He's actually pretty low maintenance, but he can throw a fit with the best of them. (Especially if he's tired.)

Thanks for your kind words on my blog. God has been talking to me a lot lately. He's pulling me back into the world of writing devotions. Now that I don't speak at Women's Ministry on a regular basis, I try to write it all down and catalog it for when He calls me back to it. I have to admit, I miss it. When I spoke this week at Moms Inc., it felt good. But for this season, I'm supposed to focus here at home, with my children. :)

Well, now that I've written you a book, I'll let you go!

Have a great week!
-Melissa
