Coffee Talk 1.29.10

Good morning ladies! I would love to stay and chat awhile...but it is FINALLY Science Fair day. However, we have also been visited by a winter storm and right now it has begun sleeting outside.
We knew the weather was coming and made provisions. I have all of the 5th and 6th grade projects at my house and we are going to get there if we can. However, I am not sure, at this point if we will have judges. I am so sad for our kids, they have worked so hard. On the bright side, if we do cancel, I will have probably two whole days in the house. O glory! That means I might actually get to visit around a little. Hey, I might even go crazy and clean a little!
Small things have been non existent this week. In fact computer time has been non existent. The week has been packed with birthdays and projects and dance and guitar and basketball. Some highlights: We started out new Bible Study by Angela Thomas--week one was phenomenal, and it was just the introduction! My favorite message is from Psalm 45:11 which says, "The king is enthralled by your beauty; honor Him, for He is the Lord." Ladies, he is enthralled by YOU! No matter what has happened. What you have done or haven't done. Whether you are loud or shy or too skinny or too heavy. Whether you have read the Bible through or are questioning the love of a God you can't quite grasp...He is enthralled by you. He loves you. He desires you! How exciting is that?
That message was so timely this week as I struggled just to get through. School has been ROUGH! On top of Science fair, FB had a ton of other assignments and both B.B. and Dancer had special "projects" requiring a lot of extra time that will be due next Tuesday. Last minute organizational stuff for Science Fair and life just was crazy. My poor OCD husband has come into a house that looked like a tornado hit every day. Really, I told my Bible Study that you could eat off my floor. Literally. There are enough crumbs, dropped food, etc. down there to make a meal! Not only that but it was Tigerfan's birthday this Wed. and I didn't even have him a present. NOTHING! AND when we took him to lunch it was right after the worst tragedy of the week when Dancer left her completed special project on the floor with a permanent marker. Oh yes, you know what is coming. Tigercub found it and DESTROYED it. Colored almost every square inch with black Sharpee. To say I was distraught is an understatement. And I handled it in a very human way, with weeping and gnashing of teeth. Speaking of gnashing teeth, that same day, Tigercub also bit Dancer. How precious to know that in the chaos that is us, in my failings as a mom and a wife and a teacher, the Author of Life is enthralled by me! By ME!
Okay. I really just meant to hop on here for a minute. I must go finish my nervous breakdown over ice storms and Science Fairs. I hope all of you have a blessed weekend, and if you find time, read Psalm 45:11. I hope to be visiting with you all soon!

Hope Science Day is going well. It's snowing a lot here today too, it had finally all melted and washed away by Monday but now it's back. Pretty weather but traffic nightmare!
Have a great weekend,
Jade

Sounds like you are extremly busy. Mabey you should try to slow down a bit and take some time out for yourself. I am lucky that we don't have any snow, and haven't really had any snow yet this winter. Hope the Science Fair goes well. Enjoy the weekend!

Thanks for that Bible verse too - that was nice to read this morning. :-)

Oh you poor dear! It's been quite a week, hasn't it? It is so encouraging to know God loves us so very much, right where and how we are.

Whether the science fair goes on or you get a couple of days of (relative) peace, all is in Hi plan. I'll be praying for safe roads!

That is such a wonderful verse! And so hard for my heart to grasp sometimes. Thank you for sharing those words :)

i hope your science fair goes off without a hitch...I know how hard you and the kiddos have worked on it!

The weather is nuts here today! Hopefully, the snow day will give you time to take a little break from your hectic schedule and slow the ride a bit! Thank you for sharing that tidbit from your bible study...perfect!

Have a great and (slow!) weekend!

Praying for your safe travels today and for blessings at the science fair. Hang in there girl! You're due for some smooth sailing here soon!
I had a day yesterday I didn't have to go ANYWHERE. It is truly amazing how much one can accomplish when one is actually home. :) Hope you get some home time!
It occurred to me (FINALLY) that I am in a new season...the chauffeur season. Not sure why it's taken me so long to realize it? I've always been slow to learn AND I don't test well, that may be it. Anyway...tis the season and it won't last long!
Blessings!

Yay! It's finally done...almost... I hope everything turns out smoothly. If not, you have some adventurous stories to tell us next week. And sorry to hear about the sharpie destruction. I hope if the project was not salvageable, that at least there can be a do-over. Take care.

oh no! I hope the judges can make it as well as you guys. After all that hard work it would be such a disappointment if it didn't happen!

Loved your blog and how the scriptures spoke to you in spite of your circumstances. As my Mom use to say, "this too shall pass." Here's hoping that your life will "chill out" and you will find some "me time." I've been praying for you this week.

Sorry you had a bad week! I'm praying that next week will be better! ((HUGS!))
The Bible Study sounds awesome though. Isn't it great how God gives us exactly what we need just when we need it?

Isn't it just like our great God to remind us of His infinite care just when we need it the most? I hope that all went well with your science fair and that the weekend affords some time for rest and joy!

You have been busy, but you have done the most important thing by keeping the Lord in the middle of it all. I love that He is entralled by us all.

Oh my goodness! What a week! I hope you have time to breathe this coming week. Did you make it to the Science Fair?

We got the snow here too. About 5 inches. I hope the kids got to have their Science fair. Let us know, how it went.

How did the Science Fair go? Did it end up being canceled? Maybe now that it is all over with, you can take a moment, let out a long sigh, and relax!

I didn't really participate in coffee this weekend. I tried to stay off the computer as much as possible. But I couldn't resist blogging about worship night. It was so good.

Thanks for stopping in and checking up on me. :) It's always nice to receive encouraging words from Company Girls!

Have a great week!

Aw, you've just GOT to keep the posts from weeks like this......and truly, one day when your kids don't bite each other or color on each other's projects you will think how easy it all was...NOT!!!! You will have pity on some poor mom doing Science Projects and Bible Studies and doing life because you will remember it like it was yesterday. Because you have your posts to remember such good times :)

Anyway, computer time and Small Thing time should take a back seat when it comes to weeks like these. I hope next week holds a little more calm for you...you deserve it!!

Nonexistent computer time sounds like something I could stand for a week! Thanks for stopping by and leaving an encouraging note this weekend. I was blessed by all who shared, and thought your contributions were quite valuable.
