The Decline Continues

I may have stated once or twice that I have been having a bit of trouble pulling myself together recently. What I once thought I had a grasp on, I now realize was always just a step from slipping out of my hand.

Friday I had a little bloggy rant and I had one person comment that indeed, I needed to be more organized. And while I TOTALLY appreciate the spirit in which that comment was offered, the comment is a little like telling someone who just had a limb removed that they need to get help or they will bleed to death. Or telling a drowning person that they should really swim to shore. Or commenting to a flunking student that they should really get their grades up. I KNOW I need to be more organized. I get that! I just don't know how.

Now, if you can help me out with that, feel free to just comment away. Or call. Or visit. Or send a little team of organizing fairies!

Anyway, My point is that I realize life has gotten a little out of control. BUT, just in case you do not believe me and in the interest of full disclosure an utter Internet honesty, I would like to present you with some after pictures. I didn't take before shots. These lovely little pictures are from Thursday. After I spent 2 1/2 hours cleaning. Remember...these are the AFTER pictures:

I would like you to notice the very clean table in the background! Martha Stewart should be calling any day now!
I cleaned again today! The whole floor has been vacuumed, the table is clear again, and the rest of the house? Well, it looks just about the same!

How old are your kids again? Perhaps you just didn't mention it, but there was a lack of the kids doing chores in your posts.
I'm still in the it-takes-more-time-and-energy-to-get-the-kids-to-do-it-than-to-just-do-it-myself stage, but already having them assigned to different tasks is really helping out.
I am not a very organized person myself, so that is all the advice I have for you. :) sorry.
Oh, except for what my DH is always telling me to do... get rid of stuff! The less we have, the less we have to pick up.
Yeah, I'm not good at THAT either.
I'll pray for you, friend. And send you a cyber hug. ((hug))
It's bound to get better for us, because it can't possibly get any worse! ;)

I just want to say I feel your pain! I have the same problems I need an organization fairy to visit a few times a week. with small children there are way too many things to do let alone clean,I will share with you what others have told me to try and make me feel better:
Jaxys physical therapist says if we come and you dont have a little mess we worry, mess means you spend time with the kids!!!
Friends and family say who cares about the house as long s the kids are took care of and happy!
we have three kids under 5 and there is alwasy chaos, keep your chin up eventually it all cleans up! and my trick is get a box throw it all in and sort it out when you have time and if you cant find it its probably in the box!!! I fill it up clean it out and fill it again is that organization? lol

If I was an organized person I would offer you great advice... I am not! My house looks the same, really I have piles everywhere! The book shelf the dresser on the dog cage on the counter just about everywhere you can stack something I have! I will be checking your comments I could use the help!

I hope it wasn't me who left you the comment about getting more organized, but I can't remember. Was it me? I have no business telling anyone how to get more organized.

The only thing I can say that has helped me is to become the total opposite of a packrat. I throw away/recycle/donate/get rid of anything we don't need/use. Seriously - I don't save anything!

And it is a huge drag for someone who likes to shop and collect things. But it makes for more cleaning/organizing than I have time for right now.

I also make the kids help, but sometimes that makes more work for me.

So I guess I have very little advice for you, except to say that I feel you, mama. Sending you some support through the internet!

WOW! WHAT A GREAT JOB you did! I am so happy for you! It looks great! Now, since your house is done, want to come and do mine? JUST KIDDING! REALLY I AM!
